Starting out

So yeah, I'm kind of tired of Fakebook the last several months limiting who sees my posts and telling me things are "fact checked" to be fake or partially fake, or that my comments "violate community standards." I'm pretty sure they're going to eventually decide to cancel my account entirely, so to avoid that, I'm not posting there much at all anymore, but instead spending the next year moving memories from there to here on a daily basis, linking freebie ebooks I like, and just generally blathering on here. Do feel free to follow me on here for updates on when I post. It's going to be busy with posts for the next year while I comment on life in general, shift things over, and so forth.

So, first off, my Mom is in her mid-70s and I'd love to have her move here to Arkansas with me, so I can take better care of her. She won't move. So more than likely within a decade, I'll have to get the businesses built up to support myself and the zoo crew, find a place near to her that I like, and move. She would love to live with me, and I'll probably see about something with a mother-in-law apartment or small extra house just for her so she can be close without having to deal with her stairs. Front porch stairs and stairs from the kitchen down to the backdoor, and more stairs to her basement, which she simply has trouble with due to age and arthritis any more. I'd love to find something with a walk-out basement and make sure the door is a regular people door for her so she can have her privacy and independence, but still be close enough for me to help her as needed. Fix it up so she has all the amenities and keep her happy. Bonus, I'd still have my independence and privacy as well. I love her but as set in our ways as we both are, I don't know that we could manage to live in the same house and same rooms without driving each other nuts.

I'm doing some looking at properties near to her but not in my hometown. It's gone downhill and I'd like to be more in the country anyhow, but near to big-city amenities. I've gotten spoiled with country living and big city stuff less than 20 minutes away even in heavy traffic here in Arkansas. Mom wants right in the city, and that will NOT work for me and my life plans. Kind of hard to get an acre of land in the city and not have someone crawling up your butt about how you don't have a lawn, but instead have planters and pavers and plants can only be so high, and you can't park her or can't do this and so on. No thanks. I'll find something more rural but close to town stuff for shopping and nicer dinners out. Besides, I like online shopping not shopping around people unless I have to.

Today, the heat is pretty rough. Not as bad as it has been, but still awful hot. I'm still a Michigan girl even after 13 years in the Ozarks, and the heat just about kills me. Currently sitting in bed with my laptop, the portable A/C going across the bed at an angle to cover as much of it as possible, AND a box fan on top of the dog's crate to blow air up the bed from the foot. It's still hot as heck. The hallway thermometer says it's 91 in the hall! I've got a window unit going in the kitchen too, to cover that end of the house. I miss not needing A/C from all the years in Michigan with comfy summers. Not sure I miss all the cold and snow, but some days I do miss that, too.

So, thanks to the heat, here's the first picture up for the blog! Thank you Fakebook!
