Fourth of July pre-game show

 So to speak. Cookout at Kat and Larry's. Got there early, nobody home but I'm one of the rare people allowed in without anyone being there. THAT'S how much I got to be shirttail family there. So I sat in the cool and waited for them to get back. They'd been making a last minute fireworks run. Food was good and there was plenty. Like Larry said, we may be broke most of the time, but by golly, we WILL make sure everybody is fed. Some leftovers they'll keep and eat over the next day or three. I have some leftover spaghetti for supper tonight. I was so tired I overslept this morning, so I didn't get to the store for a rutabaga. I'll go see about one tomorrow so I can make pasties tomorrow, and take a few over for the bunch tomorrow, as there will be more fireworks.

I ended up stopping my own festivities halfway through the big boom booms because the heat and the noise were giving me a headache. So I went back into the cool to recover and watch the rest of the show from indoors. I ended up sitting in one of the recliners and snoozing for a few minutes. Got home and took a nap for a couple hours. I was just tired from all the heat. The weather the next couple weeks isn't going to help any, either. Highs in the 90s, heat advisories right and left. We even have one for the holiday. You can bet this ole gal is going to be drinking a LOT of water.

For some reason today, I'm kind of sad, and no idea why. Just how things are, I guess. I'll recover and get on with life. I do need to get my laundry out of the dryer and put it away. It's been sitting there since last night, haha! I did get one business thing done so far despite the heat headache I've got going on, and that was to go through the files I've currently got sorted into the "to do NOW" folder for the shops. Subfolders in there for Halloween, Thanksgiving/Fall, and Christmas. Naturally, there are a lot more for Christmas than anything else, but oddly, there's next to nothing as of yet for Thanksgiving/Fall! Though who knows. I still have nearly 22,000 folders to unzip and go through. Yikes! There's no way that all of this will be done by the end of this year by any stretch. Plus there's around 55,000 phrases that really aren't that many different phrases, but when you apply it to all of the AKC dog and CFA cat breeds, all those repetitions add up. The pet lovers mug shop is going to be HUGE. If probably 75,000 different mug styles can't sell enough mugs for the profits to keep me out of the plant on a permanent basis, there is a  huge problem. Some of the designs in the Christmas folder can be used on mugs for the one shop, as well as ornaments for the Christmas shop. 

I need some dinner. I had a burger, chips, tater salad, and a really good BBQ rib at the cookout, and it was all amazing food, but it's been several hours and I'm thinking that leftover spaghetti will be good about now, along with a drumstick ice cream cone for dessert. And a bit of TV while I eat, and then a good chunk of work on holiday designs for the two shops, plus plenty of good designs for the armchair traveler shop.

 But work-wise, COVID changed so much for the world as far as how we work. For two years, work was done remotely as much as possible. Now there are several ways to work - full time in office, mixed (part time in the office and part time remote), and fully remote. Employers have learned that remote work still gets done and often much better and faster than in-house. With less distractions, work can be done more easily. Which made me think just now, with so many companies going full remote on everything they can, which saved boatloads of money on expensive leases for office space, a lot of this office space is going to go to waste. What need for skyscrapers and fancy, expensive offices other than to prove that the men in charge of leading these companies have a need to compensate for a lack of something elsewhere? Today wasn't really any better

 As I'm no longer a "top dasher," making any money today was almost a bust. $24...woohoo. I need to try up in Green Forest, where the plant is, tomorrow and see how that does me. No midrange restaurants there, just a diner that closes early, a gas station with a bunch of food type things (chicken, tacos, etc.), and a small handful of low-midrange restaurants. I can give it a whirl for a few hours and see what happens. Worst that happens is the nothing I'm doing now and I come back to home base to make SOMETHING. On the other hand, come Saturday,  I start a new 3/4 time job at a local gas station. It's pretty regular and will at least keep the rent paid and the credit cards paid that all the bills are going on right now. Going to be a bit tight for a while till I can get back to top dasher status, which will be hard with only two days a week off anymore, and working till close every night. It's been a weird few weeks

Weird starts with I like my job but I'm looking for something else. Seriously hunting for a different job. My supervisor is a toxic jerkwad and his boss thinks me asking him to speak to jerkwad about his behavior is funny. So it's hang on to the Just Over Broke until I find something else, maybe two of them, and then bail. I like the money and bennies, but I'll work my butt off on overtime if I have to just to make enough to pay the bills. I'm not staying where I'm not treated with dignity and respect. I have been putting out apps and have an interview Monday at 1pm. Means a bit short sleep for the plant if I don't get an immediate job offer/start date, but I'll manage somehow. Because the plant honestly has me in tears a lot and my mental health is at stake. I cannot deal with it much longer and stay sane.
