Somebody got arrested!
Well, well, well.
So what's happened over last weekend at my former employer, you ask? Glad to assist you with an answer!
It seems Tyson's CFO, John R. Tyson, great-grandson of the company's found, 32, decided to get drunk and enter the wrong house late Saturday night/early Sunday morning, then climb into bed and fall asleep (read - passed out drunker than a booby owl).
Now, should anyone OTHER than a Tyson family member have something like this happen to them, the company immediately fires them. Oh, excuse me, "terminates their employment." I remember several years ago here in town right near the plant, a supervisor we all liked got stopped for drunk driving and arrested on a Sunday evening. He was fired - ooops, "terminated" - before first shift even started Monday morning.
But, seeing as how this is a FAMILY MEMBER and not just any other old "Team Member," Tyson's only statement about it says, “We’re aware of the incident and as this is a personal matter, we have no additional comment." In other words, he'll get to skate scot-free from any employment consequences that a NORMAL employee would be fire - ooops, there I go again, "terminated" - for, more than likely.
I don't know about y'all, but I am going to be watching closely to see how this one plays out, because a company that treats "regular employees" one way and engages in nepotism for founding family members another way is not one I want to be associated with ever again. I hope they do the Right Thing and fire the guy over this like they would with non-family members, but I'm not holding my breath. I don't look good in that shade of blue.
