A little update
Well, I haven't written anything in about a month now. I've been a busy gal. Between door dashing like crazy, getting plenty of sleep that I was missing from working at the plant, and working on my shop, I don't have a lot of time left to dawdle on the blogosphere writing.
Good news is, I'm starting to build my door dash income up to be pretty good. There's still good days and bad ones, but this past week was my best week yet with DD, and included my best day yet at nearly $100. Awesome sauce! I'm slowly climbing my way out of that pit of low ratings a tiny bit at a time, and have had nothing but 5-star reviews since Thanksgiving. THAT was a bummer. THREE morons decided to take out holiday angst on my star ratings on DD instead of on their families like normal. I am still pretty upset by it, but I feel worse for them, that they have to ding someone innocent to feel good about themselves and/or the holiday. Honestly, as much as I love the holidays, I'll be glad when this season is over. With luck, I can get my ratings up enough by the end of December to get back to top dasher so I can quit struggling to get slots. Despite the struggle for time driving, yep, still managed a great week last week. This week is proving to be tougher to get on the clock, but every little bit helps.
And when I'm not dashing or sleeping or doing chores and housework, there's the shop, which is slowly growing. I'm getting some new product types in other than mugs, such as tees, stickers, more drinkware types, ornaments, posters, and stickers and magnets. MANY more dog bandanas, and my favorites, the wax melts, candles, bar soaps, and bath bombs. Stuff to make your home, RV or motel room (especially if you show your dogs and cats) smell better by covering up dog/cat odors, and soaps and bath bombs to make you feel and smell great after a long day stuck in a show hall or arena. I've spent time in close quarters like that for events, and it can get really sweaty and tiring, so having something to "come home to" so you can get that odor off of you in a hot shower or bath is sheer bliss.
I may not have all the free traffic that Etsy would send me, but it's MY traffic, and the more I get in the shop, the more traffic I get. Apparently, there's a need for pet lovers gifts, and I'm determined to supply as many of them as I can. Once I get this shop finished (it's going to take a while yet), I have the domains bought long since for the other three shops, which will go up one by one. State Pride Gift Shop, for armchair travelers, Christmas Curios for people who love Christmas as much as I do, and Beer and Wine Tees for people who love booze, coffee, tea, and cocoa. That last will be more than just tees, but I gotta get there first. I'm making it financially right now by the skin of my teeth, but I'll manage one way or another to make all this work out so I can continue to avoid a "real job" back in a factory again. I've managed for five weeks now, and I'll continue to manage as best as I can. It's tight, but it's not so tight that I can't keep things on a relatively even keel for a bit yet before I have to worry.
So that's that for now. I'll pop back eventually and write a bit more. Ta ta!
