A little update

Well, I haven't written anything in about a month now. I've been a busy gal. Between door dashing like crazy, getting plenty of sleep that I was missing from working at the plant, and working on my shop, I don't have a lot of time left to dawdle on the blogosphere writing. Good news is, I'm starting to build my door dash income up to be pretty good. There's still good days and bad ones, but this past week was my best week yet with DD, and included my best day yet at nearly $100. Awesome sauce! I'm slowly climbing my way out of that pit of low ratings a tiny bit at a time, and have had nothing but 5-star reviews since Thanksgiving. THAT was a bummer. THREE morons decided to take out holiday angst on my star ratings on DD instead of on their families like normal. I am still pretty upset by it, but I feel worse for them, that they have to ding someone innocent to feel good about themselves and/or the holiday. Honestly, as much as I love the holidays, I'll be g...

Somebody got arrested!

Well, well, well. So what's happened over last weekend at my former employer, you ask? Glad to assist you with an answer! It seems Tyson's CFO, John R. Tyson, great-grandson of the company's found, 32, decided to get drunk and enter the wrong house late Saturday night/early Sunday morning, then climb into bed and fall asleep (read - passed out drunker than a booby owl). The home owner found him, called police, and he was subsequently arrested and charged with public intoxication and criminal trespass. Now, should anyone OTHER than a Tyson family member have something like this happen to them, the company immediately fires them. Oh, excuse me, "terminates their employment." I remember several years ago here in town right near the plant, a supervisor we all liked got stopped for drunk driving and arrested on a Sunday evening. He was fired - ooops, "terminated" - before first shift even started Monday morning. But, seeing as how this is a FAMILY MEMBER and ...

Today wasn't really any better

As I'm no longer a "top dasher," making any money today was almost a bust. $24...woohoo. I need to try up in Green Forest, where the plant is, tomorrow and see how that does me. No midrange restaurants there, just a diner that closes early, a gas station with a bunch of food type things (chicken, tacos, etc.), and a small handful of low-midrange restaurants. I can give it a whirl for a few hours and see what happens. Worst that happens is the nothing I'm doing now and I come back to home base to make SOMETHING. On the other hand, come Saturday,  I start a new 3/4 time job at a local gas station. It's pretty regular and will at least keep the rent paid and the credit cards paid that all the bills are going on right now. Going to be a bit tight for a while till I can get back to top dasher status, which will be hard with only two days a week off anymore, and working till close every night. By the time the gas station closes, all the restaurants are done too, except...

My week has been sucky as all hell

Well, that darned bug has got me still kinda out of it. The hospital didn't do much of anything for me Friday afternoon when I was there in the ER. Blew out veins THREE times trying to start an IV. I've got the bruises to prove it. Only used the thing to put in the contrast for the CT scan and some medication after the scan. I'm dehydrated and they didn't hang a saline drip. The one paramedic in training on a clinical rotation came in with one after they'd already started discharge paperwork, so I just refused it because why bother? Had so much pain and bloating and didn't get anything for that. I did get medication for nausea and vomiting, which I wasn't even doing! Also a scrip for same which I didn't fill...because I'm not having that issue! And a scrip for prednisone which I did fill and am taking. It does help some. So does a lot of Tylenol and antacids, and liquids and eating small bits at a time. My blood pressure was popping at stroke/heart...

Happy Halloween 2022

Took yesterday and today off dashing. Not by choice last night. I had stomach flu and it was not fun. Slept most of the day and finally coughed up the energy to get some chicken noodle soup in me for the calories and those wonderful chicken enzymes to help me feel better. When you're that sick, does anything taste better for food? It's like ambrosia when you're feeling that crappy. Tonight being Halloween, I know it's a busy night. I can see that in the DD app. Things are smokin'. However, it's also a night where there are a gazillion little kids running around that don't know better yet running out in the street after candy. It's not a good combination. Had a friend run into town midafternoon today and they told me to not go out if I could avoid it because the traffic was insane. Then saw on a local FB group that there was a three-car pileup just north of town and the whole main highway was stopped in both directions. All the cars involved were totaled...

Tonight wasn't too bad

So I made a bit over $300 for this week so far, and that may be it for this week. Stopped early enough that I could hit the store and get groceries, and was still home by shortly after 11pm. Going to make that pizza I got in a few for dinner. Reason I may not dash tomorrow is I need to clean the trash out of my car and I want to make cookies and visit with Kat for a bit. So if I do anything, it will be extremely limited. What I made isn't near enough to pay the bills - it will just cover rent and groceries next week. To pay on the credit cards, I'll have to tap a bit into the stash.  I'm still scared everything is going to blow up in my face. The nursing home hasn't called and I can't seem to get through. But I did have an interview for the gas station at Walmart today and it went well. So I did all the online paperwork for the background check and all, and the manager told me I should hear by next Wednesday or so about coming in to set up a schedule and train. She...
